Hurricanes and Hip Huggers
The week that Katrina hit Louisiana one of our CSRs informed our CFO/COO about how his family was now displaced and how they had to move and it was very difficult, etc. etc. This prompted the CFO/COO to start an intra-office fund to gather monies to donate to this guy's family. Now, I'm all for charity, even though I don't particularly care for this man. Nothing personal against him, and I could make the argument that his family
chose to live in low lying hurricane prone areas (and thusly they cannot be surprised by what befell them), but I won't do that. That's just mean and inappropriate.
So I contributed the $5, and was told that as a reward for everyone's generosity we would be allowed to wear jeans on casual Friday. Woo hoo! Jeans! I don't really wear jeans except at home and on the weekends, but I liked being able to be more casual at work. Its been a hard couple of weeks. I'll take some comfort where I can get it. So that was the Friday after Katrina. This past Friday I asked if the same principle applied. No such luck. Back to casual Friday as just a reprieve from neck ties (they say we can wear polos, but I don't go there).
