RE: Your cologne

Patchouli is NOT an acceptable scent to wear to the office.

The Corporate Coach dipped his head into my office today while I was on the phone, just to give me a quick hand shake. As soon as he departed the scent of Patchouli just overwhelmed me. Patchouli reminds me of my sister and marijuana smokers. Hippies. I went to a Hippie college in a Republican state (which meant it wasn't a Hippie school at all, but they tolerated homosexuals and you saw dreadlocks occassionally) and all the Hippie kids reeked of Patchouli all the time. The worst was the winter when you would go to someone's house where a Hippie lived and the heat would make the Patchouli/sweat smell all musty. Thank goodness for modern ventilation systems and high ceilings.

Comments:
IMHO, any strong fragrance should be avoided in an office, especially if one is interacting with the public.

I only allow myself 1 tiny Issey spritz per day when working.

A blog about an anonymous Corporate Shill. Why anonymous? Because some of this should not be known by the people I work with. I shill, I make deals, I have trivial interactions in an office environment. Watch the drama unfold live!
